SSC CGL Sub-Inspector (NIA)

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been constituted to investigate and control the activities that increase the terrorism in the country. Time wise, NIA was constituted after severe terrorist attack in Mumbai during 2008 to ensure the National Integrity as a permanent law enforcement body. Selection Procedure for Sub-Inspector Job at National Investigation Agency

Recruitment on Sub-Inspectors in National Investigation Agency has been done through the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam being conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) every year. Lacs of candidates apply for this exam and many posts, including SI in NIA, are being filled up through this exam.

Earlier, candidates for SI in NIA were recruited from those who have completed at least two years of service at national or state level investigative agencies, like SPG, CBI or IB.

But through SSC CGL Exam being conducted every year, any eligible candidate can apply for these posts directly and become after qualifying the selection process.

SSC CGL Sub-Inspector (NIA) Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are almost similar to another post of the SSC CGL exam. The candidate must have an idea of SSC CGL eligibility before applying for the job.

Criteria for SSC CGL Sub-Inspector in NIA are as follows-

Nationality

  • Citizen of India

or

  • The subject of Bhutan/Nepal

or

  • Tibetan refugee (who comes to India before January 1, 1962, to settle permanently in India)

Age – 18-32 years

Educational Qualification-

  • A bachelor’s degree in statistics is one of the subjects from a recognized university.

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree from any university or with a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics in class XII.

SSC CGL Sub-Inspector (NIA) Exam Pattern

  • The SSC CGL Tier I Examination is expected to have 4 sections – Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude & English Language
  • Each section consists of 25 questions and each question carries 2 marks which makes it a total of 50 marks per section
  • The total duration of the exam is 60 minutes.
  • There is a provision for negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrongly answered question.
  • The total marks can hence be calculated in the examination as –
    • Total Marks = 2 marks for Correct Answer and 0.50 marks deducted for each wrong answer

  • The Tier-II stage of the examination will be held in a separate shift(s)/ day(s). 
  • There are 3 papers in the SSC CGL Tier II examination.
  • Paper I is compulsory for every post.
  • Paper-III will be conducted for candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.
  • Paper-II will be conducted only for candidates who have applied for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation

Sub Inspector in NIA is a pay level -6 post, comes under the pay range of 35400 to 112400. With the introduction of the 7th Pay Commission, NIA SI under 4200-grade pay. Based on this, the approx salary after the 7th pay commission is as follows:

  • Pay Scale: ₹ 35400 to 112400
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 4,200/-
  • Initial Pay: Rs. 9,300/-
  • Total Pay: Rs. 13,500/-
  • DA on Total Pay above (around 107%)
  • Transport Allowance (TA)
  • House Rent Allowance (if not provided with quarters)
  • Mobile Bill
